I learned not too long ago about 𛆁𛈬 (nüshu), which translates to “women’s script”.  The last natural inheritor of the language passed away in October 2025.

The script was created by women who were not allowed to read.

“Women lived under the control of either their parents or their husband, using nüshu, sometimes called “script of tears,” in secret to record their sorrows: unhappy marriages, family conflicts, and longing for sisters and daughters who married and could not return in the restrictive society.” — AP News

I grew an interest in tattooing this not just because of how beautiful it is, but also because it’s a piece of my culture I feel so strongly that I want to hold onto.
Requirements: Because of the nature of this text, I will only tattoo this script on women with Chinese heritage.
